are episodes in chronological order ?

Forewarning; This release is in chronological order rather than broadcast order. Really wish this would be stated on the description or even in a readme in the actual release. I had watched this or another release two years ago that put it in chronological order (Didn't know that there even were different orders) and updated using Myanimelist but was confused when credits started playing in the middle of Season 1 on an episode that felt like a climax, and even more confused when season 1 just ends somewhere inside the Endless Eight. I ended up dropping what I thought was Season 2 right after the Endless Eight because the pacing seemed fucked for a Season 2 and my interest was gone after two arcs I didn't care much about. Wasn't until a year after that, that I had heard there were two orders and that generally releases of Haruhi is manually put into chronological order. Really would have been helpful if there were some way to have known that in the first place, would have saved all the confusion.

Chronological > broadcast; it’s the only good way to watch the full series. If it were just season one alone, then fine, broadcast order makes for a great viewing experience, however throwing season two and the movie into the mix makes broadcast order feel like a pointless mess.

I used this set for my first time and changed the episodes to their broadcast order. Honestly as a first time watcher it made no sense and didn't even 'add' any mystery or anything, just meant some characters were there without introduction for no reason and then gone the next. But opinions aside this set was fine to watch in whichever order you wish! Thank you! :D
